Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT): An Evidence-Based Path to Emotional Wellbeing
We are excited to offer an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) program beginning Friday, July 18, 2025, with 1-hour sessions at 7:30 AM each week. This early morning format is designed to help participants start their day with clarity, calm, and intention.

What is MBCT?
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy is a structured, evidence-based program that blends the principles of cognitive therapy with the meditative practices of mindfulness. Originally developed by Zindel Segal, Mark Williams, and John Teasdale, MBCT is particularly effective in preventing the recurrence of depression and managing anxiety.
At the forefront of MBCT research and training is Brown University’s Mindfulness Center, a global leader in the science and education of mindfulness. Their work emphasizes the integration of rigorous research with practical application, helping individuals shift from automatic, negative thought patterns to more intentional, compassionate awareness.
Benefits of MBCT
Research from Brown and other institutions has shown that MBCT can:
- Reduce the risk of depressive relapse
- Improve emotional regulation
- Decrease anxiety and stress
- Enhance self-awareness and self-compassion
- Foster a more balanced and present-centered life
Participants learn to recognize early signs of mood shifts and apply mindfulness skills to “nip them in the bud,” breaking the cycle of negative thinking and emotional reactivity.
