Free Mindfulness Session – Event Information
Date: Sunday, 14 December
Time: 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (1 hour)
Location: New Farm Library – Community Room
(Detached building to the left of the main library entrance)

Capacity: Limited to 10 participants
What to Expect
This one-hour session introduces key practices from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), originally developed through collaboration between:
- Oxford Mindfulness Centre (now the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation)
- MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge
The session is beginner-friendly and suitable for anyone curious about mindfulness.
You will be guided through:
- Simple mindfulness practices (breath, body, and awareness)
- Recognising stress and “autopilot” habits
- Practical tools to bring calm and clarity into daily life
- Short practices you can use during the week
This is an educational mindfulness session, not psychotherapy.
What to Bring
- A cushion or mat if you prefer floor practice (chairs provided)
- Comfortable clothing
- A light jumper (library rooms can be cool)
- Water bottle
- Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to settle in

About the Facilitator
This session is led by Darius Leo, Clinical Psychologist and mindfulness teacher with advanced MBCT training through Brown University drawing on the research lineage from the Brown University Mindfulness Center (BUMC), Oxford Mindfulness Center, and MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit at the University of Cambridge.
